Trip Overview

For some one with less time to spend and yet wanting a fairly rich experience of Bhutan, this one will not disappoint you. If fact this one often turns out to have the highest sales in a year for us. Whether it’s enjoying a gentle country stroll, or the breathtaking landscape and the monumental fortresses, the living culture of the people in their traditional costumes or the enchanting folklore and history – the package ushers the guest to experience the main attractions of western Bhutan and will leave you with an indelible feeling of mysticism and contemplation. This is a leisurely paced tour with opportunities to explore on your own.

Outline Iteinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Paro airport and drive to Thimphu, the capital.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Thimphu

Day 3: Punakha

  • Drive to Punakha via Dochula pass. Enjoy spectacular views of the Himalayan ranges. Visit the temple of fertility called Chhimi Lhakhang and Punakha Dzong (fortress). Explore the town in the evening. If you like you could also camp on the river bank.

Day 4: Phobjikha

  • Continue to Phobjikha. Explore the serene valley in the afternoon with the option of camping next to the river.

Day 5: Phobjikha

  • Whole day sightseeing hike in Phobjikha around the periphery of the roosting area of the Black necked cranes, visit the famous Gangtey Gompa. Also visit the observatory to observe the cranes through a telescope if they are there (late fall and winter).

Day 6: Thimphu

  • Arrive in Thimphu city and explore the evening and nightlife. Go shopping for souvenirs and visit other attractions of the capital, including some of the best restaurants in town.

Day 7: Paro

  • Drive to Paro and hike up to Tiger’s Nest and visit the National Museum in the afternoon. Evening is a cultural bonanza, a value-added activity provided by Destination Bhutan inclusive of the package price.

Day 8: Depart from Paro.

Price Details

The Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), Tourism Business regulating agency of the Royal Government of Bhutan, fixes the Tourist Tariff rate. This rate is valid for all the inclusive tour packages. The tariffs for tourists visiting in a group of 3 persons or more are as follows:

Peak Season Rate: (March, April, May, September, October and November) Cultural Tour /Trekking – US$ 250/per person per night halt.

Low Season Rate:(January, February, June, July, August and December) Cultural Tour /Trekking- US$ 200/per person per night halt.
